Today was a pretty good day. I had breakfast at this cafe called BrainWash Cafe & Laundromat. Pretty cool that you can get your coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and wash your clothes in the same place (caramel ice mocha was awesome by the way). I was picked up by an Uber who already had picked up some of the founders that are in the program. I met Jibril of Cuttirs, Ofo of whoseyourlandlord.com, and Helen socialgoodmadeeasy.com.

Once we got to our destination, which is an Airbnb location, we were greeted at the door by Angela Benton, founder of the NewMe program. After we got a tour of the place, which has a 3D laser printer and laser cutter, we settled into our rooms and bunk beds (I got the bottom bunk).

After getting everything situated and learning the rules of the house, we went right to work. Angela met with each of the founders and gave us feedback and some things to target for the next day or so. I have a lot of UX/UI stuff to do. We had lunch, which was made by the family of the house, the Yasushi family. The Yasushi family is from Japan. They moved here because Mr. Yasushi found work here. He also is a director for a large TV network in Japan which also focuses on startup companies. For lunch he made Japanese rice and beef. It was pretty awesome. Everyone else needed ketchup. lol. Back to work we go.

During this time, I was focused on developing an eye catching landing page and working on the investor pitch deck. A few hours later it was dinner time, but before dinner, we had a special speaker. I can’t say who he was or what he does because of the company he works for. I’ll post something a few months from now, but it was awesome to hear him speak about UX /UI Design and give us feedback.

I had a chance to sit down with him for a few minutes to go over some things for LikeMinds. My goal was to get as much information out him as I could. It worked! Let’s just say he made me look at some design functionality from a different angle. If this was just the first day, I can’t wait to see what happens in the next couple of days.
